WE found this very informative map on Tumblr and it will clearly show you exactly how widespread this unrest really was. this map gives you much more to consider when you see the geographics. this was not one neighborhood. this was spread across England like an angry burning quilt.
Map: Riots Clustered in London’s Poor Neighborhoods
To help visually explain the situation in London, Matt Stiles, a data journalist with NPR, mapped out the riots by bringing together data from The Guardian and Google. His map, shown above, nicely illustrates that the riots are occurring in poor neighborhoods.
The map uses a red-to-blue spectrum to show income; red areas are poorer and blue areas are relatively richer. Incidents of rioting, as compiled by The Guardian in this spreadsheet available to the public, have occurred almost exclusively in less well-off areas of the city. The map is interactive, so check it out at Stiles’s site. Have a look. It is definitely worth it given how most media reports generalize the riots as ‘mindless crimes’ committed.
People seem to think that the faces they’d see would be predominately Brown. yet this is what we see more and more of -
The faces of the disadvantaged. those faces are just as much Pink as they are Brown. These estates house desperation and fueled with the current lack of employment; many of these issues spontaneously combusted.
Whether David Cameron takes the blame or not; he will be saddled with this for the rest of his political life. no one will forget the millions of pounds spent on the wedding of the decade; while the people who exist in these estate simmered down.
So Now Where Does The UK Go To Fix This ?
That’s what everyone wants to know. that’s why the video of the speaker is so important. he states it clearly for those who are sitting jailed and awaiting their turns in the docs to face misjustice. without a firm resolution to change the system of classism in place; nothing will change and the next time it won’t be so easy to pacify millions who are hungry.
Remember Boris, This was just a casting call; for the movie that is sure to be cast, in your theatre. Not even David Cameron will be able to sweep the streets, when the next revival of equality comes to play. Surely Picadilly will have space for one more light, in the darkness; that is the empire that the sun will never set upon.
We just hope that the royals are out of town again. because there’s gonna be burnin and lootin that night.
