*Rihanna has reportedly told detectives that Chris Brown choked her during their altercation and threatened to kill her as they fought on a neighborhood street in Los Angeles.
Both E! Online and The New York Daily News site unnamed police sources who offer new details about the violent episode that sparked Brown’s arrest Sunday for suspicion of a criminal threat.
While driving Rihanna home to her Hancock Park apartment, Brown reportedly received a sexually-explicit text message from a woman. “He got a booty call. He got a text. Rihanna saw it and she got upset. They started to argue,” said the Daily News source.
People magazine is reporting that Rihanna has the code to access Brown’s texts and has been checking them obsessively for messages from other women. People also quotes sources who claim Rihanna smacked Brown across the face during their heated exchange in the car.
Chris reportedly pulled over his rented Lamborghini and Rihanna somehow managed to grab the keys and toss them out of the window. That’s when Brown went off.
The Daily News source explained: “She got out of the car. He wanted her to get back in, so he grabbed her. She pulled away. That’s when she’s told people he hit her.”
According to the E! Online source, “He reportedly exited the car and tried in vain to find the keys, then grabbed Rihanna’s neck and began choking her, saying, ‘I’m going to kill you!’”
The 20-year-old singer told police that she lost consciousness, the E! source said, and when she awoke, Brown had fled.
Officers told People magazine that the 911 call was mostly “a recording of a woman screaming in the background.” Cops arrived on the scene to find that Rihanna’s right eye was blackened and badly swollen and she had hand prints on her arms, according to E!. The responding officers were so concerned about her, they drove Rihanna to the hospital in their squad car instead of waiting for an ambulance.
According to E!, officers took two sets of photographs of Rihanna, one at the scene and the second after she was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment. Those photos were presumably among the evidence presented to the D.A.
After being treated for her injuries, police escorted her down a rear elevator and into a waiting Mercedes, the source says.
Brown, 19, was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats. He was released after posting $50,000 bail and is due back in court on March 5.
“Chris has been trying to contact her. So far she hasn’t taken his call,” said a “music business source” for the Daily News.
As for the rumor that Chris became enraged because Rihanna hung out for a period of time with Timbaland at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party, the “music business source” said that wasn’t the case.
In other Rihanna news, the singer has cancelled a second show overseas. Her scheduled concert tonight in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta has been scrapped, the show’s tour promoter announced, citing “an assault case involving Rihanna’s boyfriend.” On Tuesday, her show in Malaysia was similarly canceled.
Earlier this week, Rihanna’s grandmother Clara Brathwaite told Barbados’ Daily Nation newspaper of her granddaughter, “I don’t want people to worry. Rihanna is fine and she is doing well.” Brathwaite also denied that Rihanna has a broken nose.

*EUR has learned that the Los Angeles Police Department is taking seriously an allegation by pop star Rihanna that her boyfriend, Chris Brown, threatened to kill her during their violent altercation early Sunday.
We are told by a source close to the investigation that police may suggest attempted murder charges against Brown when the case is handed over to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. As previously reported, the LAPD presented their case against Brown to the DA, but a spokeswoman said county prosecutors are asking detectives to investigate further.
What more do investigators need after reportedly securing eyewitness accounts, a victim statement, photos of the injuries and prints on the impounded Lamborghini that prove who was driving?
“In my opinion, either [the cops] have conflicting stories and not enough evidence, or the DA is debating whether to file this as misdemeanor or felony battery,” defense attorney Steve Cron explained to the New York Daily News.
“If you have a scratch or a bruise, that’s more in the realm of misdemeanor. If you have a cut that requires stitches, bruising showing multiple blows, a broken bone or a chipped tooth, that’s more felony.”
Another legal expert for the Daily News said prosecutors generally ask for an overabundance of “witness work” in cases like this because victims often lose their nerve when it comes to trial.
“These cases are often stymied by the refusal of victims to testify,” said attorney Alexandra Leichter, a Beverly Hills-based private arbitrator. “If witnesses saw the victim before the attack, witnesses heard the screams and then cops came and she was bloodied, then the circumstantial evidence could be enough to convict.”
In other Chris Brown news … one day after Wrigley decided to suspend its ad campaign with the singer, the folks at “Got Milk” have gone the extra step and cancelled his ads for the campaign.
“(We are) taking the allegations against Chris Brown very seriously,” read a statement from the Dairy Council. “We are very proud and protective of the image of the Milk Mustache campaign and the responsible message it sends to teens. Mr. Brown’s ad … is scheduled to end this week.”
Brown turned himself in to Los Angeles police on Sunday night. He was released from custody after posting $50,000 bail and will face charges in court on March 5

It baffles me why women who got their own thing going get into and stay in abusive relationships like this. Lots of buzzing around the interwebz about whether the pic is real or not. We will see when they release the police pics that are now "evidence"
