Birdman told you before that he has “money to blow.” Now, with his fourth solo album Priceless currently in stores, Weezy F. Baby’s daddy is spreading the wealth–with you! Well, that is if you win the VIBE Priceless Sweepstakes.

Based on that old Price Is Right game show (Bob Barker, what up!), we’re going to show four items featured in Baby and Drake‘s video “Money To Blow” throughout the day Thursday (Dec. 3). Whoever can guess closest to the value of each item (without going over!) will will $250.

HipHopDX spoke with Baby recently and the subject of Wayne’s imprisonment came up – this is what he had to say

“I could be doing a lot of other things,” Birdman told the Associated Press. “But I love being an artist. I love the other things like dealing with my son Wayne and his music. It’s half and half.”

With one half of that equation, multi-platinum artist Lil Wayne, headed to jail in 2010, Birdman says his advice to his surrogate Hip Hop son was more about life than music.

“Forget rap; it’s about him right now,” Birdman added. “I got to deal with a situation I’ve never had to deal with in my life. It ain’t cool with me, but we have to live through it…Music, that’s the only thing that gets the stress off your mind to make you feel better. It’s how good it sounds after you’ve done it. The enjoyment of it.”

Kelis filed for support money before the baby was born

A judge has ordered rapper Nas to pay almost $40,000 (£24,200) per month in support to estranged wife Kelis – a day after she gave birth to their child.

The 29-year-old singer – real name Kelis Rogers – gave birth to a boy, named Knight, on Wednesday.

Neither of the stars were in court to hear the temporary order being made. A further hearing is due on 8 September.

Ms Rogers filed for divorce from the rapper, 35 – real name Nasir Jones – in April. They got married in July 2003.

Ms Rogers will receive monthly payments of $30,741 (£18,620) in spousal support and $9,027 (£5,470) to raise their son.

The judge also ordered Mr Jones to pay Ms Rogers $45,000 (£27,260) in fees for lawyers and an accountant.

The pair had previously failed to reach agreement over payments.

Mr Jones’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, had proposed that his client give Ms Rogers a one-off payment of $20,000 (£12,110) to give the judge more time to consider appropriate monthly payments.

But Judge Louis Meisinger decided to make a temporary ruling on monthly payments which, he said, were appropriate based on Ms Rogers’s lifestyle and declarations of income filed with the court.

The singer’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, said Ms Rogers’s earnings had dipped in recent months but that she was trying to get a new record deal.

Baby Knight was born weighing 7lb 8oz (3.4kg).

Mr Kaplan said Mr Jones had been “delighted” to have arrived at the hospital “five to 10 minutes before the baby was delivered”.

A spokeswoman for Ms Rogers said: “Kelis is grateful to have given birth to a healthy baby boy.

“Her focus is on getting acquainted with him and enjoying her role as a new mom.”

Jamba Besta had planned to be a secretary, hoping to find work in an office as her homeland of South Sudan emerged out of a 22-year long civil war.

Instead, the pregnant mother heads an all-female team of de-miners, removing dangerous explosives from former battlefields.

“I never thought I would be doing this,” says Ms Besta, welcoming her six-woman team back from the danger zone they are clearing.

“But it shows those people who think that women can’t do jobs like this that they are wrong.”

The team’s members say they work better as an all-women team – supporting each other against often critical comments that de-mining is work only for a man.

“We live and work away from home all as one team, so it is good we are all women together,” she says.

Sudan’s north-south war – fought over ideology, religion, ethnicity and oil – ended more than four years ago.

Some two million people died in the war, and its bitter legacy of landmines and unexploded ordnance continues to kill and wound.

Warning signs

In Bungu, where Jama and her Sudanese team working for Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) are clearing mines, the community want to rebuild a school abandoned during the war.

Only a narrow passage has so far been cleared through the ruins of the old school, a jumbled pile of rocks covered in thick shrubs.

The path is clearly marked with warning sticks tipped with red, to show the rest remains unsafe.

“We have to be very careful to check all the ground is clear,” Ms Festo added, resuming her slow sweeping of the ground with a metal detector.

A solid squeaking sound indicates hidden metal – and the risk of a mine or unexploded bomb.

Some were designed to maim people, others to take out an armoured tank.

“It’s a job that is important to do – many people have died or had their legs shot off because of a mine,” Ms Festo adds.

Painstaking work

Similar all-women teams work elsewhere in the world, including Kosovo and Cambodia.

Mine clearance is arduous and the teams must be alert for booby traps

But Kjell Ivar Breili, NPA’s programme manager, says this is the first such team to be used in Sudan.

Mr Breili said NPA’s two female teams have recently beaten several of the six male teams in terms of the numbers of mines cleared.

“The women do a great job – and we don’t have problems of fighting or drinking,” he said.

Each de-miner creeps painstakingly forward down thin alleys, moving the safety line forward only once every section has been checked.

It is tough work in baking sun, and the plastic face-shields they wear inside the minefield mean that it is not possible to drink water during each 45-minute shift.

However, the women must pour water on to the hard-baked soil to soften the earth and allow the gentle probing of suspect objects.

Critics ‘are jealous’

One cleared passage stops just short of a tall mango tree, whose cool shade looks an inviting place to rest.

Their children sometimes join the women during breaks

But the women say such spots are especially risky – booby-trapped simply because they are likely places for people to go.

“The soldiers are believed to have buried mines all around here,” said Fazia Annet, dressed in a heavy protective bomb blast jacket.

“But we have to check all the ground of course, because there could be danger anywhere.”

Later, in the tent-camp a short distance outside the minefield, the women eat lunch before relaxing for a break in the shade.

One mother plays with their daughter, who is looked after in the camp while the women are at work.

But the team leader, currently assigned to logistical duties during the later stages of her pregnancy and for the following nine months, is clear that women can do the job just as well as men.

“Some say it is dangerous for a woman, but they are jealous because we are doing the same job as the men,” said Ms Besta, with a laugh.

“What is dangerous is leaving mines hidden in the ground.”

Cash Money Records co-founder Bryan “Baby” Williams has addressed rumors surrounding Lil Wayne‘s upcoming Rebirth album saying the project will not be rock-based.

While still calling Wayne a “rock star,” Baby recently described the rapper’s album as “great music.”

“It’s not a rock record,” Baby said in an interview. “That’s what I think people are getting misunderstood. When you speaking about a rock record, you think he’s got a guitar and everything, but it’s not that. It’s going to be some of those types of beats, but it’s just great music. I don’t think no artist can do what he about to get done. My son is a rock star…He can rap, he can sing, he’s just an artist…I don’t think no one will ever be greater because I don’t think no one puts in the time or the quality. If someone do come along, can you imagine what he’ll have to do? He got to put out on thousand mixtapes, do a thousand records [and] sell 100 million records. 2Pac, Jay-Z and Biggie didn’t get to the sh*t Wayne’s done.” (Vibe)

Weezy’s forthcoming project is rumored to be on the verge of becoming shelved by Universal Motown.

Universal big wigs are cautious of the rock album release considering the first single from the project, “Prom Queen”, dropped in January but only reached No. 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lil Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant has allegedly been advised against letting the star press ahead with the project. A source says, “If Wayne doesn’t brighten up, they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it’s never going to be released.” (Examiner)

Speaking in a Rolling Stone Magazine interview, Weezy discusses his rock star lifestyle

“”The rock sh*t just comes from what my life is now,” Wayne said. “I’ve grown into this person.” Describing a wild night when he woke up in bed with three or four women he couldn’t name, Wayne reveals he had an epiphany. “I just got, I’m not going to say ‘so good’ at what I was doing, but it became such a regularity for me that I got tired of it. And then I said, ‘You know what? I’m not going to rap on this one…I don’t want to be the best rapper in the world. Not now,” he says. “I want to be the best. Period. Now. Lil Wayne Sues Quincy Jones’ Son For “Scandalous Portrayal” In New Doc

The rapper has also included the son of music pioneer Quincy Jones in the suit.

The suit charges that Bernie Madoff‘s movie production company promised to give Lil Wayne approval over the final cut, but they didn’t. And instead they presented an attempted scandalous “documentary” at Sundance. And to get into all of this, Wayne’s lawyers decided to lead their complaint with Bernie Madoff, drawing some bizarre connection that we now live in the age of people conning other people. Probably the most interesting thing is that one of the defendants is Quincy Jones’ son, Quincy Delight Jones III. The papers also state he uses the pseudonym QD3. (Radar Online)

While financial damages have yet to emerge, he is citing breach of contract.

The 26-year-old artist allowed Digerati Holdings and QD3 Entertainment to shoot a docu-film about him. The movie company, in turn, promised to give him approval over the final cut. In early December last year, the companies screened the film for Lil Wayne’s manager, who advised them to remove objectionable content from the film. They sent another clip in January to the manager for review and approval. The manager once more demanded that all objectionable content be removed. Instead of doing so, they allegedly presented a “scandalous portrayal” of the rapper at Sundance without his approval. He is suing for breach of contract, breach of covenant of good faith and fair dealing, unfair business practices, fraud and invasion of privacy among others. (All Headline News)

In other legal news, Weezy was forced to turn over financial information on his latest album Tha Carter III last month to a folk singer who previously accused him of copyright infringement.

U.S. Magistrate Daniel Knowles III ordered the New Orleans rapper to hand over records about the sale of 2008′s Tha Carter III. Karma-Ann Swanepoel claims in a federal lawsuit filed in May that Lil Wayne didn’t have permission to sample her song “Once” in the track “I Feel Like Dying.” The lawsuit says Lil Wayne’s record label, Cash Money Records, failed to negotiate a license to use Swanepoel’s song before millions of people downloaded “I Feel Like Dying.” (Associated Press)

Concern grew on behalf of Swanepoel about the profits Weezy attained from indirect usage of the song.

“I Feel Like Dying” wasn’t a track on Tha Carter III, but a lawyer for Urband & Lazar Music Publishing said Lil Wayne promoted the album by singing that song in concert and allowing fans to download it for free on his Web site. “It’s more akin to promotional material,” attorney Melvin Albritton said. “He used the infringing work to promote himself.” (Seattle Times)

Instead of doing so, they allegedly presented a “scandalous portrayal” of the rapper at Sundance without his approval. In other legal news, Weezy was forced to turn over financial information on his latest album Tha Carter III last month to a folk singer who previously accused him of copyright infringement.

U.S. Magistrate Daniel Knowles III ordered the New Orleans rapper to hand over records about the sale of 2008′s Tha Carter III. Karma-Ann Swanepoel claims in a federal lawsuit filed in May that Lil Wayne didn’t have permission to sample her song “Once” in the track “I Feel Like Dying.” The lawsuit says Lil Wayne’s record label, Cash Money Records, failed to negotiate a license to use Swanepoel’s song before millions of people downloaded “I Feel Like Dying.” (Associated Press)

Concern grew on behalf of Swanepoel about the profits Weezy attained from indirect usage of the song.

“I Feel Like Dying” wasn’t a track on Tha Carter III, but a lawyer for Urband & Lazar Music Publishing said Lil Wayne promoted the album by singing that song in concert and allowing fans to download it for free on his Web site. “It’s more akin to promotional material,” attorney Melvin Albritton said. “He used the infringing work to promote himself.” (Seattle Times)

Concert promoter Edward Strickland said he is considering filing a lawsuit against the rapper, who is scheduled to kick off the next leg of his tour today (1/22) in Calgary, Alberta. Strickland, GM of RMF Productions, told the local media that he owes at least $200,000 for the event, which includes a $100,000 deposit paid to the artist.

Strickland reportedly said that Ujaama told him they will consider including Rochester in the next leg of the tour, but the promoter isn’t sure that local vendors or concertgoers will give Lil’ Wayne a fourth chance.

The rapper’s Oct. 26 show in Rochester was canceled after he declined to perform, citing an inferior sound system. The Dec. 6 rescheduled date for that show was postponed to Jan. 21

Lil Wayne may be one of the biggest rappers on the planet right now, but for concert promoters, he may be a little bit of a diva.

According to a recent tour rider obtained by TheSmokingGun, the New Orleans rapper had quite a few lavish requirements if you want to get him on stage.

Some of them include a private jet, police escorts, and lots of alcohol for him and his 25+ backstage guests.

Here’s a few of them:

– 50% of his appearance fee has to be paid in advance, while the other half will have to be paid, in cash, on the day of the show. If its an overseas date, the full ammount is due before he even boards a plane.

– 50 free tickets must be provided within the first 10 rows at the promoter’s expense, while 25 more are needed for backstage.

- Required a five-star hotel’s presidential suite of 1,000 square feet or better, with a living room and bedroom separated by a door. The room must also be booked through his travel agency.

- A 7 or 8 passenger Learjet must be provided for a round trip travel to usher Weezy to and from the show.

- The venue must provide two “clean and comfortable” dressing rooms without “order”, which must be stocked with an assorted list of drinks and snacks — including two bottles of Hennessey XO (“XO Only” it reads), two bottles of Pierre Jouet Rose champange, and two bottles of Patron Platinum.

– Under the “Security Rider” portion, which cautions “Pay Close Attention!!!,” the rapper demands a police escort of two vehicles/motorcycles to and from the airport, hotel, venue and back to hotel, as well as a “mandatory!” phalanx of four off-duty police officers to escort him to and from the same.

– On international dates, the requirements are even more stringent, with a request for four 24-hour armed security guards for the entire stay.

MTV broke the news about Lil Wayne’s new born son, but what everyone wanted to know is – who is the baby mama?

The newborn, named Dwayne Carter III, was born on Wednesday afternoon at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Internet rumours suggest that the mother of new born Dwayne Carter III is a 22-year-old University of Cincinnati student by the name of Sara B.

Reports suggest that Sara met the A Milli hitmaker three years ago at a concert and ended up touring with the star, the pair have had been seeing each other since, but not regularly ‘dating’.

Sarah is said to be half Vietnamese and works in a nail salon, if you believe everything you read – rumours say the college stunner has ‘Mrs. Carter’ and ‘Weezy’ tattooed on her body.

Wayne has previously been linked to rapper Trina and actress Lauren London and there is speculation that the rap star could be daddy yet again with his former girlfriends, Nivea and Karrine Stephans aka Superhead.

FEDERAL AUDIT SHOWS SHARPTON OWES

Illegal donations and other financial misdeeds discovered during 2004 presidential campaign.

*The Associated Press is reporting that federal auditors have concluded the Rev. Al Sharpton’s 2004 campaign owes the government nearly $500,000 for illegal donations and other financial improprieties.

Sharpton has been feuding with the Federal Election Commission for years over his accounting in his failed run for president, for which he received $100,000 in so-called government matching funds that authorities later concluded he did not deserve because he hadn’t followed campaign laws.

The auditors have now determined that Sharpton owes $486,803 to the U.S. Treasury because of his campaign’s taking improper donations, largely from the National Action Network, a not-for-profit corporation that Sharpton leads but is separate from his campaign committee.

Sharpton will appeal the finding, aides said Friday, which would extend an already years-long fight with the government over how he raised and spent money to run for president.

The audit report is “a gross violation of Reverend Al Sharpton’s right to perform his paid duties as president of the National Action Network, a traveling minister, lecturer, and an author who was promoting a book during the time period being audited,” said his spokeswoman, Rachel Noerdlinger.

Sharpton’s campaign finances came under scrutiny as he campaigned, speaking at churches where he collected “love offerings” that are common to traveling preachers. At the same time, he was campaigning for president, and paying for much of it with his personal American Express card. Some of the costs were paid by the National Action Network, some by a different company called Rev-Als Production Inc.

“Virtually no effort appears to have been made by Sharpton 2004, the candidate, NAN, or Rev-Als. Production Inc. to keep any sort of detailed records demonstrating what payments paid for which travel,” the report found, noting what it called the campaign’s “nearly complete failure to produce any information on this subject in the course of the audit.”

What makes us mad about this is that there is no reason for artists in Jamaica to not file injunctions against these groups for harrassment and stalking. these death threats against the artists are as real as the cliche’s recited against them; seems like one hand washing the other.  if gay people do not like these artists, why not just boycott them and stay away from their shows ?  take your money and go where you’re politics rules.  does it seem logical that the artists still continue to bait these artists with these old tired cliche’s ?

The international organization, Stop Murder Music singled out eight dancehall artists at its inception and have made them a target for their campaign to see dancehall music cease to call for the attack of gays.

‘Fire Man’ Capleton is one of the eight who was approached last year by the gay rights group to sign and abide by a document called the Reggae Compassionate Act (RCA); binding artists to display onstage behavior change that would see them stop inciting violence against gays.

Capleton is one of three who signed what was launched as a sort of peace treaty and gay rights activists in Switzerland last week cried foul, because they say he went back on his word.

Completely irate that Capleton said he wouldn’t and still continued to ‘bun’ gays, a Swiss LGBT rights group called, Homosexuelle Arbeitsgruppen Basel (HABS), got together with “Stop Murder Music Bern” and petitioned those in charge to abort plans to feature Capleton in a major concert there. Scheduled to be held on November 6 at an alternative music venue called Kaserne in Basel, Switzerland, the show’s plug was pulled at the last minute.

The gay rights groups cited Capleton’s call to ‘bun’ gays at the GT Taylor Christmas extravaganza last year, as a betrayal of his word considering he had signed the RCA that same year.

In an interview with All Hip Hop, Trick Trick said: “Homosexuals are probably not gonna like this album. I don’t want your faggot money any goddamn way. I don’t like [homosexuality]. Carry that shit somewhere else.”

The rapper also despises society’s acceptance of homosexuality: “It’s just that every time that you turn on the TV, that sissy shit is on. And they act like it’s fucking okay. Reggae CDs Under German Scrutiny for Anti-Gay Lyrics

The homophobic lyrics of several Jamaican reggae musicians has moved the German government to consider blacklisting them and restrict their sales and distribution.

The CDs by Elephant Man and T.O.K. could be put on the “Index of Harmful Materials,” which, while it would not censor the materials in Germany, would severely limit their advertising and marketing.

The Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons will decide over the next several months if the music will be included on the index, the government said on Thursday in its response to a parliamentary inquiry.

The index includes items such as media which glorify war and violence and are intended to induce hate.

Volker Beck, the leader of the Green Party parliamentary group, called on large Internet music sellers to already begin removing the CDs in question from their sales inventory.

“Those in Jamaica who invoke hatred should not earn money with their music in Germany,” he said on Thursday in Berlin.

Homosexual acts are punishable by law in Jamaica and many musicians from the Caribbean island are accused of promoting violence against gays and lesbians. In its travel advisory on Jamaica, the German foreign ministry reports that homosexuals are often the targets of assault.
