Lil’ Wayne cancels Rochester show for third time

Concert promoter Edward Strickland said he is considering filing a lawsuit against the rapper, who is scheduled to kick off the next leg of his tour today (1/22) in Calgary, Alberta. Strickland, GM of RMF Productions, told the local media that he owes at least $200,000 for the event, which includes a $100,000 deposit paid to the artist.

Strickland reportedly said that Ujaama told him they will consider including Rochester in the next leg of the tour, but the promoter isn’t sure that local vendors or concertgoers will give Lil’ Wayne a fourth chance.

The rapper’s Oct. 26 show in Rochester was canceled after he declined to perform, citing an inferior sound system. The Dec. 6 rescheduled date for that show was postponed to Jan. 21

Lil Wayne Demands Private Jet, Police Escorts & Bottles For Shows

Lil Wayne may be one of the biggest rappers on the planet right now, but for concert promoters, he may be a little bit of a diva.

According to a recent tour rider obtained by TheSmokingGun, the New Orleans rapper had quite a few lavish requirements if you want to get him on stage.

Some of them include a private jet, police escorts, and lots of alcohol for him and his 25+ backstage guests.

Here’s a few of them:

– 50% of his appearance fee has to be paid in advance, while the other half will have to be paid, in cash, on the day of the show. If its an overseas date, the full ammount is due before he even boards a plane.

– 50 free tickets must be provided within the first 10 rows at the promoter’s expense, while 25 more are needed for backstage.

- Required a five-star hotel’s presidential suite of 1,000 square feet or better, with a living room and bedroom separated by a door. The room must also be booked through his travel agency.

- A 7 or 8 passenger Learjet must be provided for a round trip travel to usher Weezy to and from the show.

- The venue must provide two “clean and comfortable” dressing rooms without “order”, which must be stocked with an assorted list of drinks and snacks — including two bottles of Hennessey XO (“XO Only” it reads), two bottles of Pierre Jouet Rose champange, and two bottles of Patron Platinum.

– Under the “Security Rider” portion, which cautions “Pay Close Attention!!!,” the rapper demands a police escort of two vehicles/motorcycles to and from the airport, hotel, venue and back to hotel, as well as a “mandatory!” phalanx of four off-duty police officers to escort him to and from the same.

– On international dates, the requirements are even more stringent, with a request for four 24-hour armed security guards for the entire stay.
