What you are looking at are the settings in our entrecard adverts panel.
We noticed This on Sunday Morning about 12:30am; et. 03/29/09
the new settings Are in place. We didn’t see anything in the blog about the settings and the way they magically appeared is quite interesting.
Take A Look at Our Settings -
We’re selecting our AD Moderation Manually By AD; For ALL ADS. this means that Both Entrecard and Paid Ads will have to be approved by US.
By selecting these settings, according to the legend below the settings panel; we control what will appear on our widget. there is also wording about Blog Ads Specifically. we never realized that there was a seperate category for paid blog ads on entrecard, until tonite. maybe this is something else new.
we’re presenting this as a public service to our entrecard buddies who may NOT have heard about how to make the choices, before the paid ads start to appear on your blog.
We are very interested in your feelings on the new advert control settings. Please Leave a Coment, Expressing Your Feelings on the New Settings; and the announcement, or lack there of yet. We like so many of you, are heavily in thought on all of this, and depending on how this next phase goes, we will be making our decision, and moving forward with it.

Advert settings
These settings affect how people can advertise with you.
Notes:
Three types of ad may run on your blog:
- Entrecard ads
- These are ads by other Entrecard users. They always point to a blog and are purchased using credits.
- Paid ads
- These are ads by third-party advertisers on Entrecard. They may point to a blog, or to a product or other site.
- House ads
- These are ads run by Entrecard, for Entrecard services only. These only run when there are no other ads available for your blog.
Entrecard provides the options on this page because we believe your blog is your own, and you should have control over what is shown there. However, we ask that where possible you keep any limitations as minimal as possible – Entrecard ads are the essence of the network, and paid ads help support the service and contribute to the CashOut fund. These are vital to the continued growth and success of Entrecard and its ability to help you and your blog grow.
Frequently asked questions
- If I don’t check any of these boxes, does that mean I approve all paid ads?
- No, Entrecard has an automatic grace period of 24 hours. During this 24 hours any paid ads available for your spot will appear on your dashboard, where you have the option of rejecting them before they run.
- Is there any penalty to rejecting all Entrecard ads?
- Your blog will be moved to the end of your category in Campaign. This is solely so that users who want to advertise can see advert-capable blogs first.
- A paid ad I don’t like is on my widget, what can I do?
- On your dashboard is a queue showing all the paid ads currently running or waiting to run, simply click “Reject” on the offending ad.
- How often do paid ads run?
- If there are no paid ads ready to run on your blog, they won’t run at all. If there are, and there are also Entrecard ads, the paid ads will run a maximum of 50% of the time. If there are no Entrecard ads but there are paid ads, only the paid ads will be displayed.
- Is there any penalty to setting my blog to require approving paid ads only and then never approving any?
- Not at this time. One of Entrecards basic rules is that, where possible, we try and give you complete control over what runs on your blog, and we don’t want to force anything on you if we don’t have to.

Entre-Fraud: Why Does Entrecard Lie About It’s Number of Blogs?
To quote the Entrecard blog: “Right now you can buy ads on over 30,000 blogs across 60 vertical niches“. This bold faced lie has been repeated over and over by Mr Langdon about his Entrecard Traffic Exchange on both his own forums and on twitter. Why doesn’t anyone publicly call him on this figure? It’s downright preposterous. Behold the real figures!

Why the big lie? Count any category yourself if you don’t believe me. These figures are 11 days old. According to Entrecard, they received over 1000 new signups since announcing their new advertising policy. “I’m always amazed how controversy drives record numbers of signups… nearly 1000 in the last 24 hours #entrecard” So again I ask you, where are the blogs?

I'm sure most folks are not sure what the money side of this means, since entrecard has been rather quiet since putting this proposal out there. it's clear now that there are still details to be worked out, and apparently they are still not worked out.

I don't honestly know what's happening over there, but I'm actually getting a little laugh over it. I can visit the entrecard forums and blog and see something that makes me shake my head every time I visit.
I noticed that earlier today. I took the necessary steps to block out blasted paid ads, too.
I swear, more odd announcements come out of Entrecard these days then just about anywhere else. What the hell is going on over there?

Thats ridiculous. It would take a coder less than a minute to make the change to be able to filter blogs who are "accepting ads". This is clearly a punishment for those who check a box that Entrecard doesn't like in their profile. Entrecard knows some people use the category page for dropping, while others pride themselves for ranking in the top 3 of their category.
Good job in exposing how Entrecard treats it's members.

Several things:
I agree with having to log in before leaving a comment. Few others do however. They can’t be bothered even though browsers can save user names and passwords, etc.
Second, you might have tons of registration spam. If you do, you can Install and use the SABRE plugin: http://didier.lorphelin.free.fr/blog/index.php/wordpress/sabre/
It has a little learning curve to it; but if you experiment, you can get the settings to be not so strong as to block real people but still be strong enough to frustrate the spammers.
Third, Entrecard’s default advert settings that they did not announce via the blog or email that I know of (perhaps they will after they see this and hear from others — I suspect they will) has all of the controls on paid ads de-selected. One would think that it was a conscious decision to roll this out without a notice so that many will never realize that the settings are there or how to get to the settings page. It could just be an oversight. We hold with innocent until proven guilty. We give the benefit of the doubt until…
until the fruit shows up as rotten.
Entrecard is a mixed bag. All entities that do not stand finally opposed to capitalism have at the very least darkness. Jesus said the following in his Sermon on the Mount:
