Detroit thinks it’s got a brighter idea – Copy Stop and Frisk from NYC.. Yeahhh Riiiiiighttt,
Take a look at this DPD Stop and Fight – there was no reason for this as you can clearly see. Just Watch and Get Mad because this is Police Assault and Battery; and yes you could be the next one to endure thismistreatment.
Clearly there needs to be a new brand of attorney who specializes in these types of civil rights violations and laws. One who will immediately be able to defend innocents like the two students in this video.
The case is presently ongoing in court. no doubt the DPD will attempt to settle before the trial ends. We hope the plaintiffs decide to hold out for justice, because it’s sorely due here.

The controversial “stop-and-frisk” tactic used by the New York Police Department could be coming to the Motor City: law enforcement agents in Detroit, Michigan plan to adopt a policing method from officers in the Big Apple.
The Detroit News reported on Monday that traffic cops in the once-booming Rust Belt city are currently being trained to learn their city’s version of what has become a hot topic of contention in New York.
According to some Detroit cops, officers in Motown have already been using practices similar to the stop-and-frisk tactics deployed in NYC for years. Now, however, Traffic Unit officers are being sent through aggressive training in hopes that new tactics will “prevent street crime through the use of traffic stops.”
The Detroit Police Department has signed a contract with consultants at the Manhattan Institute and Bratton Group, the paper reported, in order to develop a more stringent strategy for cutting down on criminal activity.
“The DPD Traffic Unit (will) evolve its mission from principally the issuance of tickets toward the prevention of crime,” the contract reads.
News of new tactics being used in Detroit comes days after a federal judge in New York said that the NYPD exhibited racial bias in conducting its stop-and-frisk pat-downs. US District Judge Shira Scheindlin said the policy unfairly targets minorities, and ordered for reform and an independent monitor to oversee the NYPD’s use of the tactic. City officials, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, decried the decision and filed an appeal on Friday.
Despite that ruling though, Manhattan Institute fellow Heather MacDonald told the Detroit News that she doesn’t think the DPD will suffer any setbacks.
“(Scheindlin) has embraced a flawed statistical model for determining when officers are racially profiling that uses a population benchmark rather than a crime benchmark that guarantees if officers are patrolling high-crime neighborhoods, which are primarily minority communities, they’re going to be vulnerable to racial profiling lawsuits,” she said.
“There’s no way a police department can avoid generating racially disproportionate arrests, because the crime patterns are what they are,” MacDonald added.
In a statement released this week from DPD Assistant Chief Erik Ewing, the officer said, “Detroit’s population is mostly African American, so it stands to reason that a high number of African Americans will be stopped, based on reasonable suspicion. This is not racial profiling, just officers doing good constitutional police work.”

We personally think Deputy Chief Ewing is talking out of the side of his neck; because he knows that the overwhelming majority of DPD PO’s are White Males who Live OUTSIDE OF The CITY OF DETROIT; Yet are allowed to come to work and act like overseers on the Detroit Plantation. This is one of the main reasons the relationship between the DPD and Detroit Citizens is so bad.
The citizens of Detroit resent paying outsiders to ride roughshod over them. This has been, and will remain a problem; until the residency clause is re-enacted.
This is also one of the main reasons Detroiter’s believe that the tax base dissipated instantly after the residency requirement was dissolved in the 70′s. The dissolution of the residency requirement meant more and more of the tax base would make money and take it out to Oakland and Macomb counties; which are certainly not friends of Detroit.
This is why we are sure that the policy will immediately exacerbate the already simmering racial issues within the DPD and Detroit itself.
No citizen in Detroit feels protected, because the DPD is not there for protection, but simply to keep the locals in line somewhat.
This is the NY Coalition to End Stop and Frisk; marching
Just take a moment and watch this so that you really see for yourself how this game works. It’s more of a cat and cheese game, because the cops can just strike out for no reason at anytime. That’s why this has to be put on tether immediately. No More Stop and Frisk Anywhere.
Meanwhile we have Detroit based civil rights groups discussing their disdain for the law. We also have those who are working actively to stop the law before it becomes as big of a component of local policing and discrimination; as it has in NYC.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig has been noted as saying that if there is no reason to stop someone, then they’re not going to be stopped. But Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations Michigan, says “stop and frisk” policing is already happening.
“We already have cases in which police officers have stopped and frisked people. Where our concern is at, we don’t want to see the institutionalization of Stop and Frisk as an official Detroit Police program,” says Walid.
Ron Scott, with the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality, says, “We have actively about 25 cases that fit the framework of what is called Stop and Frisk, where these individuals once stopped have been charged with resisting and obstructing, assaulting a police officer. And especially for young Black men that is a death nail.”

We spent this past Weekend in NYC and we can tell you that the police presence is totally racially biased. you find more cops per square inch in Manhattan than in all of New York Cities boroughs combined. Why you ask – Well lets call it what the judge who ruled it unconstitutional called it – Racial Profiling. This is what has happened in NYC since the judge delivered her stinging commentary on the Stop and Frisk case “
Judge Scheindlin ruled that police have intentionally and systematically violated the civil rights of tens of thousands of New Yorkers by mainly targeting black and Hispanic men.
The judge has also appointed an outside independent monitor to oversee major changes in police tactics, a reform in policies and training and supervision of officers. She has also ordered a pilot program to test body cameras, which will be worn by police in the areas of the city where most checks occurred.
“The city officials have turned a blind eye to the evidence that officers are conducting stops in a racially discriminatory manner,” Scheindlin said. In their zeal to defend a policy that they believe to be effective, they have willfully ignored overwhelming proof that the policy of targetingthe right people’ is racially discriminatory,” she said.
Scheindlin said she wasn’t putting an end to the practice, but merely trying to reform the way the NYPD carried it out.
But Mayor Bloomberg emphasized that the police have focused their efforts at keeping black and Hispanic minorities safe, as they are disproportionally the victims as well as the perpetrators of crime.
He said the police had done what they had to do to keep the city safe, and that they were using the one tool that has helped drive down crime rates, which was within the Constitution and backed up by the courts.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly also called the allegations of racial profiling “recklessly untrue” and noted that the NYPD is “the most ethnically and racially diverse police department in the world.”
Judge Scheindlin refused to hear evidence of crime rates in New York, which made things more difficult for the city’s defense team.
NYPD crime statistics based on race for 2012 show that there were significantly more black and Hispanic suspects, arrestees and victims of crime across all areas of crime.
The stop-and-frisk policy has been used by police for decades, but recorded stops hit an all-time high of 684,330 in 2011, and most of those stopped were either black or Hispanic

Detroit has more problems than even JayZ can name. This is why anyone who lives in the D knows, bringing Stop and Frisk into the already simmering equation will only cause it to boil over.
Detroit Police officers have themselves talked about the reality of what has caused Detroits’ crime rate to explode – Economics. Yes the bankruptcy has put Detroit on red alert. This clearly means everyone has to “do what they have to do” to put food on the table. because in the D if you don’t go get it, you won’t get it.
We’ll keep you updated on this story, as often as there are developments; Because these days, Detroit bears watching, From All Angles.
